Geography of San Sebastian

San Sebastián, Spain, the capital of Guipúzcoa province. It lies on the Bay of Biscay, 12 miles (19 km) from the French border. San Sebastián is a popular summer resort, noted for its parks, beaches, and promenades. Industries include paper manufacturing, flour milling, and commercial fishing. Among historical buildings is the former royal summer residence.

Although San Sebastián is an old city, very little of it dates back beyond the 19th century; the old city was virtually destroyed in 1813 during the Napoleonic Wars.
