Geography of Palma
Palma, or Palma de Mallorca, thē mä-[l]yôr'kä, Spain, the chief city of the Balearic Islands and the capital of Baleares Province. It is on the island of Mallorca, 165 miles (265 km) east of Valencia. Palma, a seaport, attracts tourists and is a railway, road, and airline center. It has a variety of light-goods industries and is the chief trading center of the island. A Gothic cathedral begun in 1229 and the 14th-century Castle of Bellver overlook the Bay of Palma.
