Geography of Malaga
Málaga, Spain, the capital of Málaga Province. It is a port on the Mediterranean Sea and has a large fishing fleet. Tourists are attracted by the mild climate and coastal resorts. The city, originally called Malaca, was founded by the Phoenicians before 800 B.C. It was later held in turn by the Carthaginians, Greeks, Romans, and Visigoths. The Moors ruled Málaga from 711 to 1487, when it was captured by Spaniards. Pablo Picasso was born here.
