The Vardar River

Vardar River, a river of the Balkan Peninsula. From its source in the western part of the Republic of Macedonia the river flows northeast to Skopje, then southeast through Greece to the Aegean Sea. In Greece the river is known as the Axíos. The Vardar is 240 miles (390 km) long.
