The Meuse River

Meuse River, (Dutch: Maas), a river flowing northward from northeastern France through Belgium and into the Netherlands. The river is 560 miles (900 km) long and forms 31 miles (50 km) of the Dutch-Belgian border. It reaches the North Sea through the Maas-Rhine delta, site of the port of Rotterdam. The Meuse is navigable from its mouth to Verdun, France. North of Liège, Belgium, canals parallel the river. The Albert Canal leads northwestward to the Belgian port of Antwerp.
