The Tyne River
Tyne River, a river in northern England. It is formed by the junction of the North Tyne and South Tyne near the village of Hexham in the Northumberland hills. The Tyne flows eastward into the county of Tyne and Wear and enters the North Sea at Tynemouth. Its total length is about 80 miles (130 kilometers). Factories, shipyards, and wharves line its lower course. The largest city on the river is Newcastle.
