The Gallipoli Peninsula
Gallipoli Peninsula, a narrow tongue of land in European Turkey. It separates the Dardanelles strait from the Aegean Sea and the Gulf of Saros. The peninsula is 63 miles (101 km) long and from 4 to 13 miles (6 to 21 km) wide. Ships sailing between the Mediterranean and the Black Sea must pass by here.
