Geography of Nikolayev

Nikolayev, (Ukrainian: Mykolayiv, Ukraine, a city on the Southern Bug River at its junction with the Ingul, 64 miles (103 km) east-northeast of Odessa. Established as a naval base in the late 18th century, Nikolayev developed as a major Black Sea port and shipbuilding center. Nikolayev was founded on the site of an ancient Greek settlement.

Population: 503,000.
