Geography of Enschede

Enschede, Netherlands, a city in Overijssel Province near the German border. It is a rail junction and an industrial city, producing mainly textiles and textile machinery. A technical university and a museum of natural history are here. Enschede dates back to at least the 12th century. It was nearly destroyed by fire in 1862 and was badly damaged during World War II.
