Geography of Eindhoven

Eindhoven, Netherlands, a city in North Brabant Province. It lies on the Dommel River, about 70 miles (113 km) southeast of Amsterdam. Eindhoven is primarily an industrial city, known especially for electrical and electronic products and automobiles. The city has a science museum, called the Evoluon; a technical university; a municipal theater; and an art museum.

Eindhoven was chartered in 1232 but remained small for almost seven centuries. Growth stemmed primarily from the founding of the Philips electrical company in 1891 and its later expansion into a giant corporate enterprise.
