Redfish

Redfish, or Rosefish, an important food fish of the North Atlantic. The redfish is orange to bright red in color. It grows to two feet (60 cm) in length and weighs up to 13 pounds (5.8 kg). It has spiny projections on its fins and gill covers. The female bears living young about one-fourth inch (6 mm) long, several thousand often being born at a time. The redfish is marketed as sea perch, ocean perch, or red perch.

The redfish is Sebastes marinus of the scorpion fish family, Scorpaenidae.
