Sablefish, a fish found in the North Pacific. The sablefish is also called black cod. It weighs about eight pounds (3.6 kg) and averages about 30 inches (76 cm) in length. It is dark gray or green. The sablefish is of commercial value as food and for its liver, which is a source of vitamins A and D.

The sablefish is Anoplopoma fimbria of the family Anoplopomatidae.
