Silverside
Silverside, the common name of a family of chiefly marine fish found along the shores of temperate and tropical seas. There are more than 150 species, some of them also commonly called silversides. A well-known member of the family is the grunion. The silversides have slender, usually greenish bodies with wide silver bands on the sides extending from head to tail. The Atlantic silverside is a common species found along the north Atlantic coast of the United States. It is about three to six inches (7.5 to 15 cm) in length.
The Atlantic silverside is Menidia menidia of the silverside family, Atherinidae.
