Batfish

Batfish, a family of saltwater fish. There are about 30 species. A common species found in Caribbean waters is the longnose batfish. It has a broad, flattened body with an elongated snout. Strong pectoral (breast) fins, shaped like the hind legs of a frog, enable the batfish to move over the sea bottom in search of prey—small fish, crustaceans, and mollusks. Its mouth is small, and its skin is studded with small bits of bone. It reaches a length of about 12 inches (30 cm).

The longnose batfish is Ogcocephalus vespertilio of the batfish family, Ogcocephalidae.
