Chickweed
Chickweed, an annual belonging to the pink family. It is also called by a number of other names, including starweed, starwort, satinflower, tongue-grass, and winter weed. It is native to Europe and Asia, but also grows in most parts of North America. The stems lie along the ground and have many branches. The plant has broad oval leaves and small white flowers. It is a serious lawn pest but can be eradicated by the use of herbicides. Several other plants, similar in appearance, are also called chickweed.
Chickweed is Stellaria media of the pink family, Caryophyllaceae.
