Sinfully Simple Chocolate Cake

INGREDIENTS

1 package (18-3/4 ounces) chocolate cake mix plus ingredients to prepare mix 1 cup whipping cream, chilled 1/3 cup chocolate syrup

PREPARATION:

1. Prepare cake mix according to package directions. Pour into prepared 17x11-inch jelly roll pan. Bake 20 minutes or until toothpick inserted comes out clean.
2. Beat whipping cream with electric mixer at high speed until it begins to thicken. Gradually add chocolate syrup; continue beating until soft peaks form.
3. Using a ruler or square cookie cutters, cut 10 each 3-inch squares, 2-inch squares and 1-inch squares. Place 1 (3-inch) square on serving plate. Spread with frosting. Top with 2-inch square. Spread frosting and top with 1-inch square. Frost sides and top of cake. Repeat to form 10 cakes. Store tightly covered at room temperature.

Simple Chocolate Curls Place an 8-ounce chocolate bar on waxed paper. Place on top of refrigerator, by a sunny window, or anywhere between 80°F and 85°F for about 30 minutes to slightly soften. Find the flattest side of the chocolate bar and using long strokes, pull a vegetable peeler towards you to create curls. Refrigerate curls until needed for decorating.
