Laval University, the oldest French-language university in North America. It is a coeducational Roman Catholic institution in the city of Quebec, Canada. The university was established in 1852 as an outgrowth of the Seminary of Quebec, a college founded in 1663 by Bishop Franois Xavier de Laval-Montmorency.
