Geography of Santa Fe

, Argentina, the capital of Santa Fé province. It lies at the junction of the Salado and Paraná rivers, 240 miles (386 km) northwest of Buenos Aires. Santa Fé's river port accommodates oceangoing vessels, and the city is a commercial center in a rich agricultural region. Flour milling, food processing, the processing of quebracho for tannin, and zinc and copper smelting are major industries. The National University of the Littoral is here. Santa Fe was founded in 1651.
