Gulf Of Aden

Aden, Gulf of, a western arm of the Arabian Sea between Africa and the Arabian Peninsula. The gulf is bordered by Yemen on the north, Djibouti on the west, and Somalia on the south. It is about 600 miles (950 km) long and up to 250 miles (400 km) wide, with a maximum depth of nearly 9,000 feet (2,700 m). The gulf is part of the Suez shipping route between the Mediterranean Sea and the Indian Ocean. Aden is the gulf's principal port.
