Geography of Muskogee
Muskogee, Oklahoma, the seat of Muskogee County, 46 miles (74 km) southeast of downtown Tulsa. It is the trade center for a farming area. Products include glass, food products, and structural iron and steel. Resorts along nearby Fort Gibson Lake and Tenkiller Ferry Lake are popular. The Azalea Festival is held each April. Muskogee was settled in the 1870's and has been the federal administrative headquarters for Indians of the Five Civilized Tribes since then. The Five Civilized Tribes Museum is here.
