Geography of Albany-Georgia
Albany, Georgia, the seat of Dougherty County. It is on the Flint River, in the southwestern part of the state. Albany is a regionally important commercial and industrial center. Among its products are cotton textiles, foods, and paper. The surrounding agricultural area is known for peanut and pecan production. Albany State College is in Albany. The city was settled in 1836. It was named after Albany, New York.
