Orizaba

Orizaba, the highest mountain peak in Mexico. It is in the Sierra Madre Oriental range, about 65 miles (105 km) west of Veracruz The summit of this snowcapped inactive volcano, which last erupted in 1687, is 18,855 feet (5,747 m) above ea level. In North America, only Mount McKinley and Mount Logan are higher. Orizaba was first climbed in 1848. Its Aztec name is Citlaltépetl ("mountain of the star").
