Geography of Bakhtaran
Bakhtaran, formerly Kermanshah, Iran, the capital of Bakhtaran province. The city is in western Iran, lying in a basin of the Zagros Mountains. It is the trade center for an agricultural area producing grains, fruits, and sugar beets. The city dates from about the fourth century A.D. and was long a stop on major caravan routes. Nearby are the famed Behistun Inscriptions and Sassanian bas-reliefs.
