Geography of Patrai
, Greece, a port city on the Peloponnesus in southern Greece. It is on the Gulf of Patrai, 110 miles (177 km) west-northwest of Athens. Cotton goods, flour, paper, and beverages are produced in the city. Patrai was a commercial city under the Romans, and became the commercial center of the Peloponnesus during the Middle Ages. The Greek War of Independence originated here in 1821.
