Lys River, (Dutch:Leie), a small stream in northern France and western Belgium. From its source in the Artois Hills of Pas de Calais department, the river flows northeastward for 135 miles (217 km). It forms about 20 miles (32km) of the French-Belgian border near Armentières. The Lys empties into the Schelde at Ghent, Belgium.
