Senna

Senna, a laxative made from the leaves of certain species of cassia plants. The chief sources are the Alexandria senna, native to Egypt, and the Tinnevelly senna, native to Arabia but widely grown in India.

Alexandria senna is Cassia acutifolia; Tinnevelly senna, C. angustifolia. They belong to the pea family, Leguminosae.
