Saxifrage
Saxifrage, the common name for a large family of herbs, shrubs, woody vines, and trees, as well as for a genus of this family. The family consists of about 80 genera and more than 1,000 species, found in temperate climates. Most of the genera under cultivation serve chiefly as ornamentals. Only the genus to which the currant and gooseberry belong is cultivated for its fruit. Plants of the saxifrage genus are grown primarily in rock gardens.
