Desert Lily
Desert Lily, a herbaceous plant native to the deserts of southern California and western Arizona. The desert lily grows from a bulb, which sprouts a stout stem. It reaches a height of one foot (30 cm) to six feet (180 cm). The leaves, which grow from the base of the plant, are long and narrow with wavy edges; they reach a length of 8 inches (20 cm) to 20 inches (50 cm). In the spring, the plant bears a cluster of large, white, funnel-shaped flowers. Desert lilies grow on sandy flats and gentle slopes.
The desert lily is Hesperocallis undulata of the lily family, Liliaceae.
