Lungwort

Lungwort, a general term for plants that were folk remedies for diseases of the lungs. The two best known are the common lungwort, or Jerusalem cowslip, and the Virginia bluebell, or Virginia cowslip. The common lungwort is an annual plant native to Europe and Asia that bears bell-shaped, blue flowers. The Virginia bluebell grows in eastern North America.

The common lungwort and the Virginia bluebell belong to the borage family, Boraginaceae. The common lungwort is Pulmonaria officinalis, Virginia bluebell, Mertensia virginica.
