Manzanita
Manzanita, an evergreen tree or shrub of the North American Pacific coast. The common manzanita of California and Oregon may grow 30 feet (9 m) high. It has broad, oval leaves and dense clusters of small pink or white flowers. Its fruit, spherical and reddish brown, is eaten by birds. The woolly manzanita, which has fuzzy leaf undersurfaces, grows as far north as British Columbia.
The common manzanita is Arctostaphylos manzanita; woolly, A. tomentosa. Manzanitas belong to the heath family, Ericaceae.
