Glasswort

Glasswort, an annual wild herb native to the salt marshes of Europe, Asia, and North America. The glasswort is about two feet (60 cm) tall. It has an erect stem and numerous, jointed, green branches. The leaves are blunt and scaly; the flowers, inconspicuous. The entire plant often turns bright red in the fall.

The common glasswort is Salicornia europaea of the goosefoot family, Chenopodiaceae.
