Labrador tea

Labrador tea

Labrador Tea, a woody evergreen shrub that grows in bogs in Greenland and eastern North America from New Jersey into Canada. The plant grows about three feet (90 cm) tall and bears small, oval leaves that are covered with rust-colored hairs on their undersides. It produces clusters of small white flowers at the tips of its stems. The leaves have been used to make tea and as a source of tannin, but the shrub's main value is as a decorative plant.

Labrador tea is Ledum groenlandicum of the heath family, Ericaceae.
