Aurangzeb
Aurangzeb (1618–1707), an Indian emperor of the Mogul dynasty, reigned 1658–1707. He was the third son of Shah Jahan, who built the Taj Mahal. Aurangzeb imprisoned his father and caused the deaths of his three brothers in order to gain the throne. He extended the territory of the Mogul empire during his reign. However, he was a fanatic Muslim, and his persecution of the Hindus led to armed rebellions and helped cause the decline of the Mogul dynasty.
