Cape Fear
Fear, Cape, a cape, projecting into the Atlantic Ocean, on Smith Island in North Carolina. It is near the mouth of Cape Fear River and is the southernmost point in the state. Storms and shifting sand bars off Cape Fear have often caused ships to founder. The cape is marked by a lighthouse.
