South Portland, Maine, a city in Cumberland County, on Casco Bay across the Fore River from Portland. It is primarily a residential suburb, with some light manufacturing. Nearby stands Portland Head Light, the oldest lighthouse in Maine (1791). South Portland was originally part of Cape Elizabeth; it was incorporated as a separate town in 1895.
