Ararat, Mount, a mountain in eastern Turkey, according to tradition the eastern Turkey, according to tradition the place where Noah's ark came to rest. Most versions of the Bible actually say that the ark landed "upon the mountains of Ararat," probably referring generally to the region or kingdom of Urartu (Ararat) surrounding Mount Ararat. The Biblical reference is found in Genesis 8:4.
