Geography of Jidda
Jidda, or Jedda, Saudi Arabia, a city and seaport. Jidda is on the Red Sea, 40 miles (64 km) west-northwest of Mecca. Each year Muslim pilgrims bound for Mecca fill the city. Jidda is Saudi Arabia's main port. The city's industries include fishing, pearling, steelmaking, oil refining, and the manufacture of light goods for sale to the pilgrims.
