Hebron

Hebron, a city in the West Bank, about 20 miles (32 km) southwest of Jerusalem, is one of the oldest in the world. Abraham lived at Hebron, and there David was anointed king. Modern Hebron, called El-Khalil in Arabic, is a Muslim city noted for its mosque, built in the 12th century as a Christian church. Hebron is on the traditional site of the Cave of Machpelah, where Abraham, Isaac, Sarah, and Jacob were buried.
