Lugano, Switzerland, a city in Ticino canton (state). It lies on the shore of Lake Lugano in the foothills of the Alps, 100 miles (160 km) southeast of Bern, the national capital. Lugano is primarily a tourist center and health resort; tourism is the city's main source of revenue.
