Geography of Taegu

Taegu, South Korea, the capital of North Kyongsang province. It is about 150 miles (240 km) southeast of Seoul, the national capital. Taegu serves as the market and transportation center for a large agricultural area. Chief industries include food processing and textile milling. Kungpook National University and Yeungnam University are here. During the Korean War, Taegu was the key point in the defense of the Pusan perimeter by United Nations and South Korean forces.
