Mojarra, or Moharra, a small to moderate-sized basslike food fish found mostly in tropical seas. It has large silvery scales and a protruding mouth. There are about 30 species. The common, or spotfin, mojarra is caught from South America north to New Jersey and California.

The common mojarra is Eucinostomus argenteus of the mojarra family, Gerreidae.
