Loquat
Loquat, an evergreen tree native to China and cultivated in tropical and subtropical regions for its fruit. The tree may reach a height of 30 feet (9 m). It bears clusters of fragrant white flowers. The tart fruit, pear-shaped and yellow to orange, is one to three inches (2.57.5 cm) long. The fruits are eaten and are used to make jelly and preserves. Loquats are grown in California and the Gulf states.
The loquat is Eriobotrya japonica of the rose family, Rosaceae.
