Hyssop, an ornamental European herb that grows wild or as a garden plant in the United States. The plant is about 18 inches (46 cm) high. It bears slender leaves and small blue flowers. The fruits are smooth, three-sided nutlets. Hyssop leaves are used in soups and salads and for treating bruises. Hyssop oil is used in liqueurs and colognes.

The hyssop is Hyssopus officinalis of the mint family, Labiatae.
