Lespedeza

Lespedeza, or Bush Clover, a group of annual and perennial herbs and shrubs native to eastern Asia, Australia, and North America. A species commonly called Japan clover is widely grown in the southern United States for hay and pasture and as green manure (plants plowed under to fertilize and condition the soil).

Lespedeza plants form the genus Lespedeza of the pea family, Leguminosae. Japan clover is L. striata.
