International Council for Science

International Council for Science, an organization for coordinating the work of international scientific bodies in the theoretical and applied sciences. Formerly the International Council of Scientific Unions, it continues to be referred to as the ICSU. It is composed of 23 international scientific bodies and many national scientific organizations. It also cooperates in projects with various United Nations agencies. The ICSU was founded in 1919 as the International Research Council.

Headquarters are in Paris.
