Healthy Turkey Taco Burgers: Easy Oven Recipe

 
INGREDIENTS

6 (7- to 8-inch) whole wheat or spinach tortillas 1 egg, beaten 1 can (4 ounces) diced mild green chiles, drained 1/2 cup uncooked quick oats 1/4 cup sliced green onions 1 teaspoon dried oregano 1 teaspoon ground cumin 1/4 teaspoon salt 1/4 teaspoon black pepper 1 pound 93% lean ground turkey or 95% lean ground beef 1‑1/2 cups shredded romaine lettuce 1/4 cup taco sauce

PREPARATION:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Wrap tortillas in foil. Bake 10 minutes. Remove from oven. Do not open foil.
  2. Combine egg, chilies, oats, onions, oregano, cumin, salt and pepper in large bowl. Add ground turkey; mix well. Shape into 6 (4x2-inch) oval patties.
  3. Spray rack of broiler pan with nonstick cooking spray. Place patties on rack. Broil 3 to 4 inches from heat source 10 to 12 minutes or until no longer pink in center (165°F), turning once.
  4. To serve, place each patty on one warm tortilla. Top with lettuce and taco sauce. Wrap tortillas around patties.
