Quilting with Batting
There are many types of batting available to meet the needs of different quilting projects. In general, use polyester batting with low or medium loft. For a puffier quilt, use high-loft batting, but consider tying the quilt, since this batting is difficult to quilt.
Polyester is better if the quilt will be washed frequently. Cotton batting is preferred by some quilters for a very flat, traditional-looking quilt. Wool batting is a pleasure to quilt and makes a warm cover.
