How To Summerize Your Home Decor
Summer is here, but your home still looks like it’s the middle of winter. Don’t get the sads, sparkle up your space with some easy fixes to give your home a summery look. Think of these tips as a sundress for your house!
Color Pop
Take inventory of your decorative pillows. Are they dark colors and heavier fabrics? Switch them out with some inexpensive summery looks that pop against your neutrals. Try lightweight silk (or poly blends) or cotton pillows that tie in to your overall look, but bring summer colors like yellow, red, orange, bright green or lighter blues, into your home. To save, buy pillow covers and just top off your old pillows.
Fully Floral
One of the most inexpensive (and fragrant) ways to update the look of a room is to bring in new plants and fresh flowers. Get some bright pots, or paint the pots you have (just sand down and use acrylic spray paint) and add flowering plants. If you don’t have a green thumb, pick up some flowers when you make your weekly trip to the grocery store.
Use Your Outdoor Spaces
Has your deck or porch turned into a parking lot for bikes and toys? Clean up the clutter and use that space! Most big-box stores offer reasonably priced outdoor furniture. Set up a pretty dining table or Adirondack chair and enjoy the outdoors.
Bring Nature In
Update your dining experience for the season with dinnerware that uses natural themes – tropical, ocean, or floral – to bring the beautiful outdoors to your dining experience. Also, update the kitchen with dishtowels and oven mitts that have the same themes.
Lighten Your Bed
Put the heavy duvet away for the season and cover your bed with a cotton or linen coverlet for the season. Pick a lighter color to brighten the whole room, and add throw pillows in sunny colors, or with patriotic themes.
