Washington University in St. Louis
Washington University, a private, non-sectarian, coeducational institution in St. Louis, Missouri. It has 11 undergraduate and graduate schools, including schools of medicine, law, and business. The university was established as Eliot Seminary in 1853. In 1856 it began to offer college-level courses, and in 1857 it became officially The Washington University.
