Prince Von Bulow
Bülow, Prince Bernhard von (1849-1929), a German statesman and chancellor. His failure to check the German military clique has been held partly responsible for bringing about World War I. Bülow fought in the Franco-Prussian War (1870-71), then served in the diplomatic service in various capitals of Europe. He was chancellor, 1900-09. His foreign policy, particularly when he challenged French control over Morocco in 1905 and backed Austria's annexation of Bosnia and Herzegovina in 1908, increased German isolation.
